Fall Reading List

With the Christmas almost two week away, I thought that it was more then time to do my Fall Reading List. This is a list of books that I have read this past fall season that I loved. So much so that I wanted to share them with you!! So lets begin.

One of the very first books that I read over the fall season was Me Before You and I loved it so much. The story follows the main characters, Clarke, a young girl who has never really changed anything about her life. She still lives with her family, has had the same job and boyfriend, and has never done anything "against the rules." Then one day, her entire life starts to change when she loses her job. The newly unemployed women set out to try and get her life back on track. So when she is hired to help assist a paralyzed man named Will, she is more then lost. And the feeling is mutual between the two. But over time, they start to change and see not just each other but life in a different light. But only for awhile. I found this book to be so heartfelt and at times sad. It was a really great book with a completely unexpected ending, that I both hated and loved.

Now this next book has been on the top lists for books for awhile and I never really had much thought about it. But then my book club decided that it was going to be the next book that we were going to read. And I am happy they did because I really did like this book. The story is a very creative and futuristic twist on the classic Cinderella story. You follow the character Cinder, a young cyborg girl who is known to be the best mechanic in New Beijing. And with this reputation, of course the Prince would come to her for help with his Android. Without Cinder really knowing it but the day that the Prince shows up at her work booth would be the day that would change her life forever. Through numerous obstacles, including being blamed for her sister catching a deadly disease to trying to go against every effort to stay away from the prince, Cinder must also figure out how to deal with the fact that she is not who she thought she was her entire life. It really is a very creative story that I could not put down. And the best part is that it is a series, which means the story does not end, yet.

THE NEXT BOOK DESCRIPTION CONTAINS CONTAIN'S SPOILERS TO THE GAME OF THRONES TV SERIES (SEASON TWO)

With the Game of Thrones new season coming up, I wanted to read up on the books to help keep the "magic" of the show alive while I wait. With that being said, I am so happy that I got through the second edition of the Game of Thrones books series. It goes without saying that the books are nearly, if not better then the show. In this particular book, you follow the repercussions of both Lord Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon's death. Both of their oldest sons have claimed themselves to be Kings and are feared to start a war between each other and their houses. Leaving the entire Realm up in air with havoc and anger spuming anger left and right. With each house fighting for the throne, each is left open and defenseless against other house. All while, many forget that winter is coming. Was that a good summary for an over 600 page book? It truly is an incredible series put together by a literate master mind.

NOW THERE ARE NO MORE SPOILERS :)

Since Christmas time was right around the corner, I thought that I would get into the Christmas spirit early. Which is exactly what I did when I read this book. Lily has left dares in a red notebook at her favorite bookstore, waiting for someone to come along it and fulfill her dares. Always imagining that her and this special person would have a lot in common or have some sort of connection. So when she finds out that Dash has received her dares she is less then impressed. But as the dares and secrets are shared over time, Lily starts to wonder if she does have a connection to Dash. It is a really great short read that I found myself unable to put down. It had a lot of charm and comedy mixed in that made it an extra sweet treat.

If you could not tell already but I am a sucker for a cute romance. So when I read the description of this book I thought that I had to give it a try. See, Annabel is seen as the girl who has everything all based off a commercial. But what people don't know is that Annabel struggles with trying to get over having a sister who is anorexic, trying to find a place to fit in, trying to get over her friend, awhile trying to keep a secret that keeps her from ever truly being happy. I really liked how this story was not the predictable love story and took its time presenting the story. I also really appreciated the author taking the time to help form and mold a dynamic and interesting character. It was a very sweet and yet serious book that I enjoyed every twist and turn that it offered.

For this last book, it was recommended to me by my ever so lovely English teacher. I was a little worried at first with how I was going to read this book because most of the book is in dialogue and the dialogue is in older African dialect that is hard to read or understand at first. But once I got sort of use to it, I realized how incredibly captivating this form of language was because it made me truly feel as if I was there. The story follows a African American women named Janie who is very smart and independent but is unable to be so because of her husbands. After being married off to an older man, Janie runs away with another man in hopes of a better life. But Joe is not who she thought he was and is forced into another relationship of imprisonment of living freely. But after the death of Joe, Janie finally feels free, for once in her life. But just as she thought that life could not get any better, along comes the man of her dreams that no one, not even Janie, saw coming. This book is a beautiful piece of literate that I feel so pleased as to be able to say that I read it. I highly recommend this powerhouse novel.
